Alpaca Yarn
Pure British Suri Alpaca Yarn is made from award winning British Suri Alpacas. The yarn is very fine , close to a 2 ply lace weight and in a range of natural colours. It's superb for crochet, light weight knitting by hand or machine and very suitable for weaving in the warp and weft. Our Yarns are available in a variety of blends. 100% Pure British Suri Alpaca, Surino - British Suri Alpaca blended with 20% super fine merino and Suri Silk - the height of luxury, British Suri Alpaca blended with 30% silk a truly unique yarn.
Our yarn is normally sold in 50g balls that are approximately 225m long. If you prefer a different ball weight for your project or your yarn in a skein or on a cone please contact us. Quantities are limited so make sure you order enough for your project.
Weave Suri Alpaca
Suri Alpaca yarn makes a superb weaving yarn and is strong enough to use as a warp or weft thread.
For our own work we currently use a simple rigid heddle loom and a 15 DPI reed. A simple scarf approximately 86 inches (2.18m) long and 7 inches (17.5cm) wide generally uses about 90g of yarn.
100g of our pure Suri Alpaca yarn will be approximately 450m long.
As well as the yarn we also have for a sale a selection of hand woven alpaca scarves. Mostly they are 100% Pure Suri Alpaca but occasionally for a splash of colour we also combine pure silk. We can also weave scarves to order.

Crochet Alpaca
Our pure Suri Alpaca yarn is super soft and smooth, great to wear next to your skin if other coarser fibres irritate you. The crochet kits feature a range of stylish and elegant scarves which you can make yourself. The kit contains a pattern and a ball of yarn in your chosen colour. All you need is a 4mm hook and a little time. There are simple patterns for beginners and ones that are for the more experienced. If you would prefer the finished article then you can purchase our crocheted scarves in the shop or if you have your own pattern then just purchase the yarn, 50g is approximately 225m.
Knit Suri Alpaca
Our pure Suri Alpaca yarn is super soft and smooth, great to wear next to your skin if other coarser fibres irritate you. The knitting kits feature a range of stylish and elegant scarves which you can make yourself. Each kit contains a pattern and a ball of yarn in your chosen colour. All you need are 4mm needles and a little time. Suri alpaca is best suited to light laceweight projects so if you have your own pattern then yarn is available in the shop, 50g is approximately 225m.
Our Suri Alpaca yarn is also suitable for machine knitting.
